Black Canyon of the Gunnison, CO

Denise recreating her own "Against a Crooked Sky" moment at the Black Canyon....eeeek

And..yes...I really was "THAT" close!!
Just don't look down.

Here's a picture of the road down to the bottom of the canyon, where the river flows.
And, yes...the brakes got very, very hot.

If you look down....you can see how close Tim was to the edge to get this picture.......and no railing either.
Some people literally live on the edge.

Aspen, CO

On our 24th anniversary, we retraced our original travel to Aspen, where we honeymooned.

Aspen, Colorado

The picture below is not Aspen

These are the mountains near Molas Pass
Just makes you want to set up shop..doesn't it?

And then on our way down the mountain and out of Aspen, we pull over to have a nice, quiet, romantic picnic lunch..... Ahhh..so peaceful and serine....and picturesque.
And then 3 young people show up and start taking their clothes off...and we're like...are they going to do what we think they're going to do?
Wow... now that's a lot of fun.

Simply Colorado

Don't know and can't remember where these ones were taken.
But, since they are on my favorites list, I figured they were worth posting.

The one below was taken while Tim and I were out celebrating our 24th Anniversary.

Below are pictures from the day that we were trying to get into the Sand Dunes from the West.

CR 559 was the connecting road between Hwy 69 and the Sand Dunes. Medano Pass was somewhere up ahead.

The dirt road was a high clearance/4 wheel drive trail and we were trying to make it in the mini van.
We do that all the time....we love adventure!

We didn't make it very far in the van.
But we did have an amazing day hike.
Somewhere up in those mountain we have 'penguin' rocks

Eleven Mile Canyon

I think we were on CR 98 when we took our Four Runner into the four wheel driving area up near Eleven Mile Reservoir.
If I'm right, that would be where these pictures where taken at.

The one above and the one below are two of my most favorite shots from that day.

Canon City

It's so interesting the things that one discovers once the baby pigeons leave the nest.

Tim and I began to rediscover the Canon City area as soon as those Feisty Forties set in upon us... and you know...the pigeons were long gone.

For a few good years when you think, or wish, you were young again..and that risk factor kicks back in...well that's us....and this is what we do.

We find tarantulas on CR 143...and we get in their faces...

We find deer in Sand Gulch...and we get in their faces..

Just a couple of pictures from Sand Gulch.

We find lizards in Marsh Quarries....and..yep..we get in their faces, too.

Just a couple of pictures from Marsh Quarries.

Even a crayfish, minding its own business in the water at Marsh Quarries can't escape the closeness of our faces..
