Summer Lake Hot Springs, OR

Although we didn't take full advantage of this place with a cabin stay or even an over-nighter, it was well worth the trip, as we made our way home in September 2009.
We did stay and for a day soak in this bath house. It was nice.

There is no lake here at the Summer Lake Hot Springs.

If you look on a Rand McNally map, you can see a beautiful, huge lake called Summer Lake.....it ain't there.

As you can see in the picture that I took....all that's left is salt.

But, wow..what an effect that salt had. As we were coming south on 31, we didn't know that the Lake was gone and we kept seeing this shimmer.
I'm like, "Is that the Lake or is that a mirage?"
"That's a Lake...no...now it's gone...wait...now it looks like water."
Wish we had stopped and taken a picture of the mirage..it was huge.
